Mvix Media Players (4000U, 5000U, MX-760HD, MX-780HD) work with ATA / ATAPI or ULTRA-ATA Internal (IDE / EIDE) 3.5" Hard Disk Drives (HDD). We recommend use of hard drives with large buffer size (minimum 8MB).
The Mvix 780HD can be used with ATA (IDE / EIDE) or SATA hard disks, while theMvix Media Centers (MV-4000U / MV-5000U / MV-5000R / MX-760HD) do NOT work with SATA hard disk drives.
We recommend the following specs:
- 7200 RPM
- 8MB or 16MB buffer sizes.
- ATA or Ultra ATA or ATAPI Interface
- 3.5" IDE or EIDE
- Recommended Brands: Seagate, or Maxtor.
We recommend using 2 or more partitions on HDDs larger than 100GB and 3 or more partitions on HDDs larger than 400GB. Mvix Media Centers are capable of supporting very large-sized HDDs (even up to 1TB !!)
Note: We strongly recommend use of MAXTOR or SEAGATE-brand Hard Drives. There is currently an unknown incompatibility issue with few Western Digital 500GB (WD5000AA*) and some Hitachi drives, due to their inconsistent power requirements. Avoid these drives if possible.
Enhanced integrated drive electronics (EIDE), also called Parallel ATA (PATA), hard drives have been the standard in the home computer industry for more than 10 years.
