My PC does not recognize the Mvix or the HDD within it?
Solution Based on our historical data of technical support requests, USB connectivity and PC recognition problems are caused primarily by either of the following issues:
  • Please ensure that you have physically installed, formatted and partitioned the Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Kindly note: Mvix players do not come with an installed HDD.
  • Please be sure that the USB and power cables are connected properly. Eliminate the fact that the USB cable is defective: Try a different/spare USB Cable to connect to your PC.
  • **Common Cause** If using IDE / PATA Hard Drive, Please ensure that the jumpers on the HDD are set at "MASTER" or "SINGLE". Kindly note that external enclosures do NOT work with SLAVE or CABLE SELECT HDD setting . Some HDDs work better with all jumpers removed. Please click HERE for further explanation.
  • Ensure that the Mvix player is not connected to the PC via a USB hub.
  • Disable MS-Windows USB Power Management:
    • Right-click on My Computer ---> Properties ---> Hardware ---> Device Manager. Now look for the Universal Serial Bus controllers tree, then expand it. You should see a number of USB Root Hub insertions. Right-click one of them ---> Properties ---> Power Management. Uncheck the box labeled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
