This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to use your Mvixbox WDN-2000 to host and share your Itunes library so that multiple PC's can connect via Itunes and use the library.
Required Software: Internet Explorer, ITunes
Purpose: Locate the Itunes library on the Mvixbox to keep from having every PC have a copy of the library.
Enabling Itunes sharing on your Mvixbox:
- Use your favorite web browser to bring up the web interface for your MvixBOX. (Currently Google Chrome is not recommended)
- If you do not know your IP address for your player: For Vista Users: Go to Start --> Right Click on Network, and Select Explore. XP Users, Can double click on Network Neighborhood.
- Right click on MVIXBOX, and select View Device Page.

- At the MvixBOX front page, login with your account.

- Double click the icon labeled Administrator.

-
On the left column, under System Management, click on Service Management.

-
On the following screen you will see what services are running. Under ITUNES, ensure that the Enable button is selected, and then click on Apply.
Moving your Itunes Library to the Mvixbox:
- The location of the Itunes library will vary depending on which Operating system you are using. In Vista the location is C:\Users\Username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Music. In Windowx XP the location is C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
- Copy the contents under the Itunes folder from Step 1 to \\mvixbox\public\Musics(iTunes). This may take some time depending on how large your Itunes library is.
-
Once the copy of the data has completed, open Itunes.
- In the Menu, click on Edit, then click on Preferences. You will see the following Window:
-
Under ITunes Music folder location, click on the
change icon. You will be prompted with a navigation wizard to navigate to the folder on the Mvixbox with your ITunes content. Once you have selected the Music(Itunes) folder, click on the
OK button.
-
The Preference window will now show the path to your Itunes folder, which should be pointing to your Mvixbox. Click OK you may see 1 or 2 windows as ITunes examines the new directory you are pointing at. You may be asked if you'd like ITunes to change the file and directory names if you rename a file within Itunes, this decision is clearly up to you.
You now are using your Mvixbox for storing your Itunes library!
