How do I install a harddrive in my MvixMBOX WDN2000?
Solution

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on physically installing a SATA Hard Drive in your MvixMBOX WDN2000.

Please note this unit can only use SATA drives, there are not mounts available for IDE drives.

Procedure:

1. Here is a picture of the front of the MvixMBOX WDN2000. Please ensure that it has been powered down, and the AC adaptor is disconnected.

* Note the blue button circled with the red square, this is the blue button you will need to push to release the drive cage.

2. You will need to push down the blue button for the drive cage labeled as HDD1, and the drive lock will come lose and come forward as in the picture.

3. Pull the drive cage all the way out, and you should be presented with the empty drive cage.

4. You will now place the Sata drive inside the drive cage. The SATA/Power connections on hard drive will face away from the blue lock/latch. Note the areas we have highlighed with the Red squares. These are the screwholes which will be used to mount the drive to the drive cage.

* Note the green areas highlighted. These are the screw openings for the screws to go through and then screw into the hard drive screw threads we highlighted in red.

5. Now you will use two of the screws on one side of the drive cage to mounted the hard drive. The fastened screws have been highlighted in red.

6. Flip the drive cage over and now fastened the other two screws.

7. Here is a picture of the inside of the SAN unit. It will outline where the drive cage will force the drive to connect via the SATA and power connectors.

8. You will now slide the drive cage into the empty slot. If this is your first drive, make sure to mount it in slot marked HDD1, if this is your second drive you would mount it into HDD2 slot. Also ensure the blue latch is in an unlocked position.

9. Continue to slide the drive cage into the slot until it is all the way inside the SAN unit.

10. Once the drive cage is all the way inside the unit you should be able to push down the latch into it's locked position. You have now successfully mounted the hard drive.

11. Now login into the MvixMBOX WDN2000 web based management utility to setup the new drive.
