 How do I install the Samba and Bit Torrent modules on my Mvix Ultio?

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to install the Samba and Bit Torrent modules on your Mvix Ultio

Required Software: Ultio Widget Pack.  You must use the Ultio to format the harddrive. If you format the drive outside of the Ultio you will not be able to install the Modules.

Purpose: To show how to upgrade the firmware on your Mvix Ultio

Caution: It is illegal to download something that is being distributed without the owners permission. This covers most music, film, movies, and programs for a computer. Also remember that P2P type file sharing program (like the one available on the Mvix Ultio) can cause you to accidentaly download viruses and malware.

Use this Torrent Module at your own Risk

Mvix Ultio or any of it's accessories must not be used for any unathorized functionalities or for downloading, distributing, any other works protected as copyright. No license to infringe copyright is granted by the sale or use of this equipment.

 

Download Firmware:

  1. Download the latest Widget pack from the MvixUSA Support Site.
  2. Save the zip file to your computer.
  3. Unzip the zip file using WinZip, WinRar, or Vista's built in zip decrompession tool (Right click file, and click extract).
  4. You will now see multiple files with an ipk extension.
  5. Place the *.ipk files on a external USB Drive/Thumbdrive. These filesshould be the ONLY files on the drive, else problems can occur with the instalation/upgrade.

Upgrade Process:

** You must format the internal drive with the Ultio.  How do I format the Ultio's Hard Drive?

  1. Connect the External USB Drive/Thumbdrive with the Widget files to the Mvix Ultio.

  2. Navigate to the Setup entry on the main menu, and press enter.



  3. Navigate to the System entry on the Setup menu, and press enter.



  4. Navigate to the BT / Samba Info entry in the System menu, and press enter.



  5. You will now see the status of the modules for the Ultio. You will need to highlight the services one at a time, select Install press enter to start the install.



  6. You will be prompted once more to install the module.



  7. Repeat the installation steps for the remaining modules. One completed it should appear as in the following below.



  8. Select each of the three services, btpd, samba, and unicgi, highlight Run and press enter. You will see another prompt to confirm the install, select ok and press enter. This will start the services.



  9. The Samba and Bit Torrent clients are now installed.
  10. To Access the Bit Torrent administration utility open a browser and go to http:\\<ultioip>\ where <UltioIP> is replaced with the IP address the ultio is using. You will be able to login, using the credentials user "Admin" and password "123".
  11. To Access the Ultio via Samba, browse your network for a device named Venus, which will be the Samba share for the Mvix Ultio.
