How to backup My_Shortcuts for the Mvix Ultio using the Modified Samba Module and Telnet
Solution
This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to edit/backup the My_Shortcuts config for the Mvix Ultio,
using the updated Samba module found here
Samba Module 1.1
Purpose
: Show the steps to edit the My_Shortcut's config on the Mvix Ultio's internal drive.
Steps:
Ensure you have a telnet client. For our example we will be using the Windows Telnet client.
Go to Start -> Run -> type CMD <enter>. You should then see the Command Prompt Window.
telnet ultio <enter>. If you have changed the hostname, then replace ultio witht he hostname or IP.
When prompted for the username type root <enter>.
You will now be logged into the Ultio. Type
cd /usr/local/etc/dvdplayer
<enter>
Then type
more NetworkBrowser.ini
<enter>. You will now see the configuration file for the My_Shortcuts area within the GUI. Some items to note, the
num=
line, refers to the number of connections which are specified. As you add more connections below, you will need to increment the num=. Also, each new connection get's a number, starting at [0].
You can now use the vi editor to edit this file. The vi editor is unlike most editors, and this
VI Cheat Sheat
can help you wil the commands.
Type vi NetworkBrowser.ini to open the configuration file in vi editor.
Hit the down arrow until you get to the bottom line. Hit the right arrow until you get to the end of the example line, and hit 'a', then 'enter'.
You will want to start adding your additional connections as such: [1]
label='some label'
id='username'
pw='password'
domain=''
hostname=''
ip1=192
ip2=168
ip3=1
ip4=122
You will need to hit the 'Esc' key, and then scroll up to num=0, move the cursor under the 0, then press 'x', then press 'a', and type in 1, or increment for however many connections you haveadded.
Then hit the'Esc' key, hit ':', then type 'x!', and then hit 'enter'. The file will now be saved.
Reboot the unit. Upon reboot, in the My_Shortcuts section, you will now see any shortcuts you have added.
In order to backup the file you can copy the file to the main internal drive by using the command
cp /usr/local/etc/dvdplayer/NetworkBrowser.ini /tmp/usbmounts/sda1/.
Alternatively, you can also copy the NetworkBrowser.ini file to the internal drive, and then edit it via notepad and Samba on a Windows machine, and copy the file back to /usr/local/etc/dvdplayer/.
