 How do I convert a VOB file to an MPG to play on my Mvix Media Center?
Solution

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on converting vob files from within a Video_TS folder of a DVD, into mpg files which will be playable on your MVIX Media Player. In cases where the full DVD structure is not required, and the DVD only contains one or two vob files, this guide can be used to combine those vob's into one mpg.

REQUIRED SOFTWARE:

1. VOB2MPG (Freeware!)

PROCEDURE:

1. Download and install the VOB2MPG Software, take all default selections.

2. Copy the VOB files you want to convert to one directory such as C:\vobConvert. Ensure only the file you want to transcode are in the directory.

3. Go to Start --> All Programs --> BadgerIT --> VOB2MPG --> VOB2MPG v2.5. You will now see the VOB2MPG window.

3. For Folder containing VOB sets: click the folder icon to the right. Navigate to the folder with the vob's you want to transcode. In this illustration we are using C:\vobConvert.

4. For Folder to write MPG's to: click the folder icon to the right. Navigate to the folder where you want the new mpg to be placed. For our example, we will place it in C:\vobConvert. You could place the new mpg whereever you would like.

5. Confirm both directories are correct, and then click on the start button. The vob files will now be used to create a new mpg.

6. Once you see the window below, the conversion has concluded. You can now copy the mpg to your player, and test playback.
