 How to upgrade the firmware on the Mvixbox WDN-2000
Solution

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how upgrade the firmware on your Mvixbox.

Required Software: Internet Explorer

Purpose: To show how to upgrade the firmware on your Mvixbox WDN-2000.

Download Firmware:

  1. Download the latest firmware from the MvixUSA Support Site.
  2. Save the firmware zip file to your computer.
  3. Unzip the zip file using WinZip, WinRar, or Vista's built in zip decrompession tool (Right click file, and click extract).
  4. You will now have a firmeware file named mvixbox_firmware_v#.#.#.#.bin. (#.#.#.# will be replaced with the version number).

Upgrade Process:

  1. Use your favorite web browser to bring up the web interface for your MvixBOX. (Currently Google Chrome is not recommended)
  2. If you do not know your IP address for your player: For Vista Users: Go to Start --> Right Click on Network, and Select Explore. XP Users, Can double click on Network Neighborhood.
  3. Right click on MVIXBOX, and select View Device Page.

  4. At the MvixBOX front page, login with your account.

  5. Double click the icon labeled Administrator.

  6. On the left click on the System Management link under the System Management section.


  7. Now that you are in the System Management section, scroll down until you see the Upgrade section. You will see Upgrade ( v1.0.0.4) (Or whichever firmware version you currently are at).



  8. Under the Upgrade section, click the Choose File button and browse to the firmware bin file you downloaded from the MvixUSA support site. Once you have selected the bin file, click the Apply button. You will then see the following window:



  9. The firmware upgrade will continue for as long as 10-15 minutes. The unit will reboot at the completion. Once you see that the web interface for the Mvixbox is no longer updating, try connecting back to the web interface to log in. DO NOT POWER CYCLE THE MVIXBOX UNTIL THE UPGRADE IS COMPLETE! 
  10. After the reboot if you have no display, please press the Video button on the remote to cycle through the various video outputs.
