How do I share content from my MvixBOX WDN2000 to my Mvix MX-760HD and MX-780HD Media Player?
Solution

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how share files on your MvixMBOX, so that your Mvix MX-760/780HD media players can play it.

Required Software: Internet Explorer, Firefox.

Purpose: This feature allows you to place all of your media on the MvixMBOX and make it available for all your Mvix MX-760/780 Media players..

Pre-requisite: In order for this functionality to work it is recommended that you use a GIGE switch for your network connections. The MvixMBOX has a gigabit ethernet port, and to offer the best possible throughput to multiple clients on your network a GIGE connection is recommended. The clients can all still use the 100MB connection on the switch, but it allows for the MvixMBOX to have a greater throughput to the switch.

Sharing your Media:

  1. Use your favorite web browser to bring up the web interface for your MvixBOX. (Currently Google Chrome is not recommended)
  2. If you do not know your IP address for your player: For Vista Users: Go to Start --> Right Click on Network, and Select Explore. XP Users, Can double click on Network Neighborhood.
  3. Right click on MVIXBOX, and select View Device Page.

  4. At the MvixBOX front page, login with your SysAdmin account.

  5. Double click the icon labeled Administrator.

  6. On the left hand side, under Network Management, click on Service Management.

  7. On the following screen you will want to scroll down and check the following settings:

Setting the Windows Explorer - Ensure that the Enable Radio Button is selected, and click Apply.

Share Mode - Ensure that share mode is selected, this will ensure that all users on the network can see the media.

Open(Public) Folder - Ensure that Open(public) folder is selected so that the folder will be shared. Then click apply.

Your sharing folder is now available at \\mvixmbox\.

Copying files to your MvixMBOX via Windows file sharing:

  1. Double Click My Computer, and Expand the Network setting on the left hand side. You should see MvixBOX listed, or any other name you may have set for your MvixMBOX. Double click the MvixMBOX listing, and you should see the shared printer, as well as the mvixbox_public shared folder.

  2. Double click the mvixbox_public shared folder, and you will now see the contents of that folder.

  3. You will notice that the TVShows folder I have listed above, you do not have. You can create any folder you would like here. You can take your ripped dvd iso's, or Video_TS folder and place them under movies. The shared location will then be \\mvixbox\mvix_public\movies\. It is recommended that you lay out/structure your shared media in a way that will make it easier to browse on your Mvix MX-760/780HD.

Navigating to the MvixMBOX share on your Mvix MX-760/780HD:

  1. Highlight the Movie tab on your Mvix player, and hit enter/ok.

  2. Now you will see the TV icon, your local drive if one is installed, and any shares you have previously seen. If you do not see the MVIX_Public folder, hit the refresh button on your remote.

  3. Scroll down to MVIXBOX_PUBLIC, and hit enter/ok. You will now see all of the folders where your content is located. Continue to navigate to the video/audio file you want to play back.
