 How do I enable file sharing for MX-760HD and MX-780HD with Windows XP firewall turned on?
Solution

To enable your Mvix MX-760HD/MX-780HD Media Center to access your shared folders on Windows XP with firewall turned on, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Windows Firewall setting which is accessible via the Control Panel
  2. Ensure that the firewall is turned on and the "Don't allow exceptions" check box is unchecked as shown below:
  3. Click on the Exceptions tab.
  4. In the Programs and Services list, locate "File and Printer Sharing".
  5. Ensure the checkbox for "File and Printer Sharing" is checked as shown below:
  6. Click the "OK" button to close the dialog window.
  7. Reboot the computer and MX-760HD/MX-780HD
NOTE: The above procedure will open the following ports on your Windows XP:
  • Port 139 (TCP)
  • Port 445 (TCP)
  • Port 137 (UDP)
  • Port 138 (UDP)
