If you have Windows Vista Premium or the following steps do not work, please read our article on How to Configure Sharing and Discovery in Windows Vista Home Basic or Premium.
To configure Sharing and Discovery:
- Navigate to the Network and Sharing Center which is accessible via the Control Panel
- Click on the "down arrow" icons and select on/off making sure to match the configuration in the below diagram.
Next, configure the folder you want to share:
- Select the folder
- Right click and choose Share from the menu
- From the drop down box select the Everyone (All users in this list) account making sure permissions are set to Reader (see below diagram)
- Click the buttons Add, Share and Done.
Next you will configure the Local Security:
- Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy
- Navigate to Local Policies and then to Security Options
- Change the Network Access and Network Security settings to match that of those in the following screen shot
Finally, restart your PC. Once the PC restarts don't forget to update your available network shares on your MX-760HD/MX-780HD by using your remote to navigate the onscreen menu to Refresh, once Refresh is selected press enter.
