How do I use WPA2 with my Mvix MX 760/780HD?
Solution

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to fix issues with WPA/WPA2 and your Mvix HD-760HD /HD-780HD

Required Software: None

Purpose: How to fix connectivity issues with WPA/WPA2 and your Mvix HD-760HD /HD-780HD

Information to Note:

  1. It is important to note that the MX-760HD/MX-780HD support WPA encryption, which is much more secure than WEP encryption. At this time the players do not supoprt WEP2, and there is a difference between the two encryption methods.

  2. Some routers, like the Actiontek Series Verizon uses work fine with the players in WPA/WPA2 mixed mode. This means the router can accomdate for both WPA and WPA2 access from multiple devices. Some routers, including some Linksys routers, due to their implementation of WPA/WPA2 keep the players from being able to join the network. In those cases, the player may crash/freeze upon selecting a SSID, and/or entering the encryption key and joining the network.

Steps to take:

  1. Shutdown the player, and unplug power for 15 minutes.
  2. Plug-In the power cable. Wait for 10 seconds.
  3. Push and hold STOP and OK keys (on the Mvix unit, not on the remote), then press and release the POWER buttons on the unit. You may now let go of the STOP and OK keys.
  4. "Factory Reset" should display on the LCD monitor of the player.
  5. The unit Reboots and returns to Factory Default condition.
  6. Login to to your router, and change the encryption method of your router from WPA/WPA2 mixed mode, to WPA. Note: All your other wireless devices will need to be setup for WPA
  7. Once your router is configured, setup your Mvix player, and scan for the Wireless SSID of your router.
  8. Enter your Encryption key, and connect to the network.
