 How do I convert a MKV file to a AVI or XVID to play on my Mvix Media Center?
Solution

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on converting MKV files into Xvid avi's which will be playable on your MVIX Media Player.

REQUIRED SOFTWARE:

1. mkv2vob (Freeware)

PROCEDURE:

1. Download and install the mkv2vob Software, take all default selections.

2. Goto Start --> All Programs --> mkv2vob --> mkv2vob.

3. You will see the following window, click on OK.

4. Click on the Configuration Tab.

5. Under Video Transcoding, change the pull-down menu to Always. Under Transcoding Codec change the pull down menu to Xvid. Next under Output File Extension, change the pull down menu to AVI. Your window should now match the one below.

6. Click the Add File tab, click Choose for the source file and browse to your directory, and select the mkv file you want to transcode. Click on Choose for the destination file. Your window should look like the one below.

7. Now click the Add File button, and the file will be added and the transcoding will begin. The transcoding and remuxing process can take quite some time.

8. Once the file is transcode, next it will be muxed. This process can also take some time, and it may not seem like any progress is being made, just let it continue to run until it says it is completed.

8. You will get a pop-up, click ok.

9. After the muxing is complete you can now copy the avi / xvid file to your player, and test playback.
